This
is my '87, I bought it in may of 98, I don't know how many previous
owners yet, but plan to write DMV. I've always dreamed of driving
a Corvette and finally was able to after changing careers from music
to computers. I bought it with 82,000 miles on it, it was very clean.
Then, as luck would have it, I was driving through
town and a kid with a fresh license pulled a u-turn from the curb
and t-boned my passenger door. I thought all would be well when
my friend recommended a body shop, they had ferrari's and such there.
The car was painted two different colors. They
claimed I should sue the driver for diminished value. While I was
going through the red tape with DMV and trying to have the paint
fixed a wonderful thing happened, I was at work and I get a phone
call from an insurance adjuster saying he's calling me about the
"accident" I had that morning. I assured Him I didn't
have one, I parked it in front of my girlfriends house and walked
to the train station so it wouldn't get hit at the station. A woman
drinking coffee and driving wasn't paying attention and hit the
back end, panicked and pushed it under my girlfriends car. This
time I brought it to a great shop, Hassell Auto Body. Doug insisted
on new GM parts, repainted the Whole car, and replaced various items
that needed replacing, all covered by her insurance company.
Since then I bought the 17" centerline rims
at a swap meet, I plan to add side pipes next year. Also in the back
you'll see a truck, I bought that to drive to the train station
and through town. They can bounce off me all they want now, the
Corvette is in the garage, don't get me wrong, I still drive it almost
every day. But its a shame I can't drive it as much as I'd like
to.
Just a note, if you need body work and live in
the Long Island area, I highly recommend Hassell in Babylon. Submitted
